Be inspired by the techniques used by bookmakers of the past in this creative, hands-on workshop. Students will participate in a storytelling session, explore historic texts in the World of the Book exhibition, and respond to their experience by crafting their own Library inspired book.

Students will:

  • Develop an appreciation of reading and storytelling for enjoyment
  • Learn about the techniques and materials used for bookmaking in the past
  • Create their own book to take home
  • Participate in a guided tour of the Library’s unique heritage spaces, including the World of the Book exhibition

The booking process

Simply click on the Book Now button and you will be directed to our online booking page where you can select a date and time.

Size of booking: A maximum of two classes (50 students) can be allocated to one booking time and program via the online booking system.

If you require any adjustments to the booking time or group size, please contact the Education Team at education@slv.vic.gov.au and we will do our best to accommodate within the parameters of our programming.

Funding opportunity for low-ICSEA schools

Schools with an ICSEA ranking below 1000 may be eligible for our Access Education Funding to support the cost of attending a facilitated program at State Library Victoria. Check your school’s ICSEA on the My School website.  Contact the Education Team at education@slv.vic.gov.au for more information on how to book Access funded programs.
