Help your students become more successful researchers with this interactive session presented by State Library Victoria’s education team.

This targeted program explores relevant, practical strategies to motivate middle-year students to adopt more rigorous research practices.

Online workshops are available Tuesday-Thursday during term time at 10.00am, 12.30pm and 2.00pm.

Students will:

  • compare and evaluate online sources for credibility and relevance 
  • understand the importance of being a critical and creative thinker in today’s world
  • develop tips and tricks for effective internet searches

This workshop is suitable for students in Years 7-10 or any secondary classes seeking an introduction to core research skills.

This program links to the Victorian Curriculum and helps students to: 

  • analyse and explain the effect of technological innovations on texts, particularly media texts (VCELY376
  • use comprehension strategies to interpret, analyse and synthesise ideas and information, critiquing ideas and issues from a variety of textual sources (VCELY378
