Eligibility and employment conditions

Right to work in Australia

State Library Victoria is a public entity within the Victorian Public Sector. To be eligible for employment with the Victorian Government, you must hold:

  • Australian citizenship, or
  • Australian permanent residency, or
  • New Zealand citizenship, or
  • a visa that allows you to work in Australia (note: you can only be considered for a fixed-term period of employment that does not exceed your current visa term).

Victorian public sector redundancy

State Library Victoria cannot re-employ anyone who has received a redundancy from the Victorian public sector in the last three years.

Working with children check

State Library Victoria is committed to being a child safe organisation with zero tolerance for child abuse, always acting in the child's best interest.

In accordance with the Child Safe Standards, all employees and volunteers at State Library Victoria agree to abide by our Child Safe Code of Conduct and hold a valid Working with Children Check.

If you are successful in being appointed to a role, before commencing, you will need to provide evidence that you possess a current Working with Children Check and will need to meet the cost of completing this check.

Pre-existing health conditions and reasonable adjustments

To ensure your entitlements to workers’ compensation if your condition recurs or gets worse on the job, employees are requested to complete a pre-employment health declaration and disclose pre-existing injuries and diseases that could be affected by the proposed employment.

State Library Victoria is committed to providing an accessible, inclusive work environment to enable people with a disability to participate fully in all aspects of employment. Reasonable adjustment may be required for people with a disability, recovering from illness or injury or with chronic medical conditions.

We will consider all requests for reasonable adjustment and will accommodate these wherever possible. Reasonable adjustments may include changes to work methods and arrangements, use of equipment or software and training for co-workers or supervisors. Reasonable adjustments do not include changing the inherent requirements of a role or creation of an entirely new role.

Terms and conditions of employment

Detailed terms and conditions of employment, including salaries, hours of work and leave entitlements are set out in the State Library Victoria Enterprise Partnership Agreement 2020.
