Selection process

All recruitment at State Library Victoria is undertaken through a rigorous process. The applications are assessed against the key selection criteria and requirements of the role, and the most suitable candidate is recommended for employment.

As we receive a large number of applications for some roles, the shortlisting process may take several weeks.

If your application is shortlisted, you will be invited to participate in an interview, which may be in person or online.

In order to determine the candidate most suitable for the role, the selection panel may invite you to attend further interviews or ask you to provide work samples or participate in other assessment activities based on the duties of the role.

As part pre-employment screening, reference checks may be conducted on the preferred candidates. If mandatory qualification is required for a position, you will need to provide evidence to verify your qualification.

If you are the recommended candidate for the position, you will be contacted to discuss the conditions of your proposed appointment.

Unsuccessful candidates will be advised via email. Due to the high number of applications we receive, feedback is generally only available to those candidates who reach the interview stage of the selection process.
