Curatorial statement

Please note: The Curatorial Statement (2025) has been superseded by the Programming Strategy 2025—2029, which now provides the Library's overarching framework for programming, engaging audiences with the collections, and the development of exhibitions, events, education initiatives and digital experiences.

The Library's Curatorial Statement (2025) articulated our approach to curating experiences, exhibitions, digital content and programs. It informed the development of the Programming Strategy 2025—2029, which now supersedes the Curatorial Statement and provides a comprehensive, Library-wide framework for programming and audience engagement.

The Programming Strategy reaffirms our commitment to being a Library for all. It sets out the guiding principles and narratives that will shape our exhibitions, events, education initiatives and digital experiences over the coming years. Programming is how we bring our purpose to life: the bridge between our extraordinary collection and the millions who visit us in person and online each year. It connects people with our collections, sparks ideas and creates shared experiences that resonate far beyond our walls.
