Libraries for Health and Wellbeing
Victoria’s public libraries are vital infrastructure, improving the health and wellbeing of the communities they serve. Victorians who engage with their public libraries have a higher subjective health and wellbeing score. Furthermore, public libraries play a vital role in addressing loneliness by providing equitable opportunities for social inclusion.
The Libraries for Health and Wellbeing project resulted in a collection of practical resources and tools that communicates the measurable social and economic value delivered by public libraries. Public library employees are encouraged to use these resources in advocacy, funding and partnerships.
