Colour our Collection: stained glass windows

Did you know 2022 is the International Year of Glass?

You may think of glass as a fairly simple material, used in the windows of your house and to hold your drinks, but glass can also provide an opportunity for colour and creativity!

To celebrate the beauty of glass and get the family's creative juices flowing, we've transformed a stained glass window sketch by artist Alan Sumner into a digital, print-at-home colouring activity exclusively for our family members.

Alan Sumner was a painter, printmaker, teacher and stained glass designer from Melbourne. Over the course of his career, he completed around 100 commissions for stained glass windows in Melbourne and internationally. The Library holds sketches, pictures and books capturing Alan's work over the years.
