Story Camp

Story Camp is a free three-day program that will run at State Library Victoria for young people from eligible schools in Greater Melbourne. During a four-hour period each day, participants will:

  • work with professional creatives on prose, illustrative and performative storytelling formats
  • hear guest speakers talk about their creative careers and share their knowledge
  • experience the State Library's facilities
  • develop their own skills and voice over the course of the camp.

To be eligible for Story Camp, your child's school needs to have a value below 1000 on the Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage (ICSEA).

To check your school's ICSEA, visit the My School website and go to your school's profile page. You will find the ICSEA value in the 'Student background' section on the right of the screen. Participants must be aged between 12 and 15 years.

Dates: Story Camp will run in the winter school holidays (4–6 July) and the spring school holidays (26–28 September). Each day's program will run from 10am to 2pm.

Capacity: The maximum number of participants at Story Camp is 75.

Participants must be able to travel independently into the State Library. If requested via the registration form, MYKI cards with preloaded credit will be posted to confirmed participants. The MYKI cards are to be used to come into the city to attend Story Camp.

Participants will be required to indicate when registering whether they will be picked up by a parent/guardian or leave independently at the conclusion of each day.

Luncheon will be provided for free over Story Camp. If applicable, dietary requirements will need to be advised on the registration form.
