Terms & conditions: Family membership book bundle competition
How to enter
To enter, entrants must:
1. either:
- purchase a State Library Victoria Family membership in the period between 9am AEST 29 September 2021 and 11:59pm AEDT 31 October 2021, or
- have previously purchased a State Library Victoria Family membership in the period from 9 March 2021 to 29 September 2021.
2. Accept these competition terms and conditions, confirming that they have read and understood the terms and conditions.

Conditions of entry
This competition is an initiative of State Library Victoria, 328 Swanston Street, Melbourne, Vic, 3000 ('Library').
Entry into the competition means you accept these terms and conditions.
Entry into the competition is free and automatic with the purchase of a State Library Victoria Family membership ($96/ year).
To purchase a Family membership and be awarded the prize, entrants must be Australian residents and 18 years or over.
Employees of State Library Victoria, and their immediate families, are not eligible to enter.
The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Six (6) winners will be notified.
No responsibility is accepted for any variation in the value of prizes.
No responsibility is accepted for late, lost or misdirected entries.
Any personal information entrants provide will be treated as confidential and managed in accordance with the State Library Victoria's Privacy Statement and Privacy Policy.
State Library Victoria reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time without notice.
State Library Victoria may disqualify you if:
i. you or your Entry do not meet any one or more of the requirements set out in these Terms and Conditions;
ii. you tamper in any way with the operation of the Competition.
Dates
The competition commences on 29 September 2021 at 9am AEST.
Entries close on 31 October, 2021 at 11.59pm AEDT.
Prize draw and notification
The Competition is a game of chance. Skill plays no part in determining the winner and the winner will be selected at random.
State Library Victoria will appoint judges for the Competition (the 'Judges').
The prize Selection Date will be 8 November, 2021. Members of the Brand & Audience Development branch of State Library Victoria will draw the winner at random on the Selection Date. The draw is conducted using an online random number generator, and may be drawn at Library premises or remotely.
The Judges will select from all valid Entries into the Competition, six (6) prize winners will be awarded with three (3) age categories. Age categories include: 3-5 years, 6-11 years, 12+ years.
The Judges' decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
The Winner(s) will be notified by email on the selection date. All reasonable attempts will be made to contact the Winner(s). If, despite reasonable efforts by State Library Victoria a potential prize winner does not respond to State Library Victoria by 22 November 2021, 11.59pm AEDT, the prize(s) will be forfeited, and State Library Victoria reserves the right to select a new winner. The Winner(s) will need to provide a postal address for State Library Victoria to post the prize.
If any proposed selection date falls on a public holiday in Victoria, that selection will be conducted on the following business day.
Prize
The prize packs are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.
There will be six (6) Major Prize winners in total.
Two (2) Major Prize winners will be drawn for each age category.
Children’s age information provided during Family membership sign-up will determine which Major Prize a winner will receive. Age categories include: 3-5 years, 6-11 years, 12+ years.

The maximum total prize pool value will not exceed $1,000.00 AUD.
The Major Prize(s) is subject to the terms and conditions as imposed by the provider of the prize, including period of validity and expiry, or any booking or redemption time frames.
If the prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, State Library Victoria reserves the right to substitute the prize for a prize of equal or greater value, subject to law.
You may not ask for any alternative Prize (including cash).
If you are not able to take the Prize as stated, you will forfeit the Prize and no payment or compensation will be made in lieu.
State Library Victoria may ask you or your parent/legal guardian to provide proof of your age, identity and residency, and to sign any required documentation including release forms as a condition of claiming the Prize.
You or your parent/legal guardian are responsible for all expenses and taxes connected to your participation in the Competition and not included in the Prize.
Other Terms
State Library Victoria and agencies or companies associated with this Promotion will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with a prize except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
State Library Victoria and their associated agencies and companies is not liable for (including any costs) any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, network failures, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of entries, and any cause beyond the control of State Library Victoria, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available.
In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly hinders State Library Victoria's ability to properly proceed with the competition on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, computer virus, fraud, tampering, unauthorised intervention, or technical failure, State Library Victoria may in its absolute discretion cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition, subject to direction of the relevant authorities.
The Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) as well as other laws in Australia may imply certain conditions, warranties and undertakings, and give you other legal rights. If they apply, they cannot be modified or excluded by any contract. You may consider seeking legal advice as to whether they apply to you.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions generally affects your rights under Australian consumer law (as contained in Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) and equivalent State and Territory fair trading legislation) regarding consumer guarantees to the extent that such consumer guarantees cannot be excluded by law. Other than these consumer guarantees State Library Victoria makes no warranties about any prizes offered as a part of the Competition, including warranties as to the quality, merchantability or fitness for purpose of such prizes.
You agree to indemnify State Library Victoria against all liabilities suffered or sustained by State Library Victoria arising from any claim by a third party that your Entry infringes the rights (including intellectual property rights) of any third party.
Severability
Any provision (or part thereof) of these Terms and Conditions that is prohibited or unenforceable in any jurisdiction is ineffective as to that jurisdiction to the extent of the prohibition or unenforceability. That does not invalidate the remaining provisions (or parts thereof) of these Terms and Conditions nor affect the validity or enforceability of that provision (or part thereof) in any other jurisdiction.
Entire Agreement
These Terms and Conditions contain the entire agreement between you and State Library Victoria with respect to the Competition. They set out the only conduct that you have relied on and supersede all earlier conduct and prior agreements and understandings between you and State Library Victoria in connection with the Competition.
