Paper conservator Albertine Hamilton reveals the construction of the beautiful folding easel and the hidden paintbox compartment containing watercolours and painting implements, including a porcupine quill.
She explains how this equipment would have been used by Georgiana when she was painting plein air in order to capture the landscape around her. She may also have used the watercolour pans when she painted her self-portrait.
