About this video

Watch this virtual 3D reconstruction to discover the fascinating evolution of the Library. See how the 1856 Melbourne Public Library on Swanston Street has evolved into the contemporary State Library Victoria complex, spanning an entire city block and bearing traces of more than 100 years of architectural influences.

This video was commissioned for the Free, secular and democratic: building the Public Library 1853–1913 exhibition, one of many Dome Centenary events that took place in 2013 to celebrate the Library's iconic dome.
