Hear from the event organisers themselves for their take on the takeover.

After the success of the first Kids’ Takeover event in spring last year, Bethany and Tess from the Library’s Audience Engagement team have stepped it up for the second instalment, which promises to delight and entertain its young audience during the summer school holidays!

From 10am to 3pm, children will be able to take part in the below sessions, with a couple of paid activities sprinkled throughout the day. Check out the program below!

Magician and Author Nicholas J Johnson will nourish creative minds by teaching a trick or two, performing mystifying manoeuvres, and dishing up some fun surprises at his 11.30am session.

Promising to entertain the whole family, Australia’s favourite bubble man, Dr Hubble, will introduce your children to the magic behind bubbles at his mind-blowing session at 2pm.

Get hands-on and crafty with Paperazzi Design Studio, who will help teach your little one’s how to transform paper and standard household items into their very own piece of Alice in Wonderland art.

Designed to boost confidence and build trust, little performers will have the opportunity to participate and learn fun circus skills with the help of our friends at Circus Nexus!

Attending Kids' Takeover will be a great welcome back to the Library after the Christmas break, so make a day of it by heading to Mr Tulk for a much-needed lunch break, and then if you have time check out Ned Kelly’s armour in the South Rotunda or the beautiful artwork displayed in the Cowen Gallery.

The activities and performances for Kids’ Takeover are best suited for 5–12 year old’s; however, younger children are welcome to come along with family members.

Tickets are required for this event. Learn more about attending Kids' Takeover
