The Library Files: preserving mid-century Chinese textiles

10 May 2021

In this episode of The Library Files, Preservation Technicians Emily Keppel and Jessye Wdowin-McGregor take us through the process of preserving textiles that were acquired in China and Korea in the 1940s and '50s.

The items are part of the Irene Watkins collection, and were likely bought on a trip that Irene took to China in 1945 to work as a missionary.

Emily and Jessye also discuss their roles as Preservation Technicians in caring for the Collection and making such extraordinary items accessible to the public.
