The Festive Season at State Library Victoria

15 December 2021

Happy holidays from everyone at State Library Victoria!

The Library building will be closed from 6pm, Friday 24 December to 10am, Tuesday 4 January 2022. See our opening hours for more information.

While our doors may be closed, the Library is always open online with a range of programs, activities and blogs for you to discover during the festive season.

Find a great summer read with our curated ebookshelf, or browse our family ebookshelf and audio books for stories to keep the little ones entertained. There's also the annual Summer Reading List for the Prime Minister, produced by Grattan Institute with State Library Victoria, which features six thought-provoking, diverse and relevant books and articles from 2021.

Still looking for a stocking-filler or something special for the literary lover in your life? A State Library Victoria gift membership, designed to nourish cultural lovers, entertain families and support students, could be the perfect solution. For any LEGO® fans out there, treat them to a State Library Bricktoria experience - from an interactive treasure hunt to an adults-only brick building extravaganza, there's something for enthusiasts of all ages.

Head over to the SLV Blog for a peek into the festive lives of department store Santas, the history of Carols by Candlelight, the story behind the Myer Christmas windows, the origin of the Christmas box and some Christmas crafts featuring images from the collection.

We also have a couple of online jigsaw puzzles to get you into the Christmas spirit, featuring images of a beautiful Winter Wonderland and an Australian Christmas scene.

From all of us at State Library Victoria, thank you for your ongoing support in 2021.

Have a happy and safe festive season and we look forward to seeing you in the new year!
