RedPlanet Press and the politics of poster making
In the pre-internet era, Victoria's poster collectives were a shining light of grassroots art and activism giving a voice to the local population.
Two Melbourne collectives, the Red Letter Community Workshop and Another Planet Posters, had a strong impact with their work through the late 1970s and 1980s, combining to become RedPlanet Press in 1992.
Before being forced to close in 1999 due to a lack of funding, the organisation produced a collection of hard-hitting, satirical and intelligent political posters capturing the radicalising voice of the community at the time.
