About this video

Watch local slam champions compete in the 2018 Victorian final of Australian Poetry Slam.

wāni Le Frére won the Victorian final for a performance that lays bare the uncertainties and gaps in the formation of a black, male identity.

Runner-up Abe Nouk offered a poem about the fragility of life, and the power of words to offer balance and support.

The winner and runner-up were selected by a panel of judges who were picked at random from the audience.

This free event was held at the Library on 21 September 2018.
