wāni Le Frére won the Victorian final for a performance that lays bare the uncertainties and gaps in the formation of a black, male identity.
Runner-up Abe Nouk offered a poem about the fragility of life, and the power of words to offer balance and support.
The winner and runner-up were selected by a panel of judges who were picked at random from the audience.
