Sue Roberts, CEO and State Librarian has announced the appointment of three new directors to the State Library of Victoria leadership team: Ms Jo Watson, Mr Peter McMahon and Mr Ben Clark. 

Sue Roberts, CEO and State Librarian will meet with the Geelong City Library tomorrow to examine the progress of the library redevelopment and explore the role the State Library will play in Geelong’s information future.

Naomi Cass, Director, Centre for Contemporary Photography, will lead an expert panel as they discuss photographic representations of the State Library’s iconic domed reading room.

David Pearson, Director of Culture, Heritage and Libraries for the City of London Corporation, believes libraries will continue to play a vital role in Australia’s cultural future.

Tonight Ray Gill hosts The dome as artist’s muse, the first in a series of Dome Centenary Conversations. Artists Julia Ciccarone, Ross Coulter and Marco Luccio will reflect on the Library’s domed reading room.

Artist Patricia Mullins will be awarded the 2012 Dromkeen Medal in a presentation at the State Library of Victoria, the new home of the Scholastic Dromkeen Children’s Literature Collection.

On Sunday 24th March your favourite authors and illustrators will be taking over the lawns of the State Library for a great big book party – it’s open to everyone and it’s absolutely free.

Applications are now open for The R E Ross Trust Playwrights’ Script Development Awards 2013. The awards are open to Victorian-based playwrights and deliver a total of $30,000 to support the development of plays as works-in-progress.

In addition to the suite of fellowships regularly offered by the State Library of Victoria, a series of four special fellowships will be offered as part of its Dome Centenary celebrations in 2013.

Three $1200 AGL Shaw Summer Research Fellowships have been awarded to the following students enrolled at a Victorian university who are entering 4th year honours, or engaged in their first postgraduate degree or diploma.
