State Library Victoria has released a request for tender (RFT) for a catering service to deliver functions and events for the organisation’s newly redeveloped venue spaces and facilities.

Qualified and innovative service providers are invited to apply to be part of an iconic institution located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.

New catering facilities and refurbished heritage spaces are set to open as part of the Library’s $88.1 million Vision 2020 redevelopment and will build on the organisation’s reputation as one of Melbourne’s leading venues.

The Isabella Fraser Room – the Library’s first dedicated, purpose-built function room – will open this spring and The Ian Potter Queen’s Hall will reopen as a special events space in 2019.

A new production kitchen and well-equipped satellite service kitchens and pantry spaces will also be delivered as part of the redevelopment.

The successful service provider will work closely with the Library throughout the redevelopment project and, once completed, will market and deliver a range of events in these newly created and redeveloped venue spaces.

State Library Victoria Manager Strategy and Planning, Alix Massina said the RFT offered the chance to be part of the once-in-a-generation transformation of one of the city’s key cultural institutions.

‘State Library Victoria is one of Melbourne’s leading event venues, and this is an exciting opportunity to work with a truly unique venue and help shape an iconic Melbourne landmark,’ Ms Massina said.
