New partnership brings France to State Library

A partnership between the State Library and Alliance Française de Melbourne will see French language classes begin at the Library on Monday 15 July.
The St Kilda based language school will be the first organisation to occupy the Library’s Community Lab – a space designed to facilitate community learning onsite, expanding the diverse programs on offer at the Library.
Sue Roberts, CEO and State Librarian said the collaboration will add to the Library’s educational programs and introduce a new audience to the Library’s broader offering.
‘We are very excited to announce that Alliance Française de Melbourne will launch our Community Lab and be the first partnership of this kind for the Library. Having French classes onsite gives people the opportunity to study and learn from the largest French school in Victoria here in heart of the CBD.’
Alliance Française de Melbourne classes at the Library will take place daily in the Community Lab, located behind the Arts Reading Room, from 10.30am to 6.00pm and will cater to all age and proficiency levels, allowing participants to learn French at their own pace.
