The Library is a short distance from either Melbourne Central Station and State Library Station. Melbourne Central Station directly services all metropolitan train lines, via the city loop. Regional travellers can transfer to metropolitan trains at Southern Cross or North Melbourne stations. The new State Library Station directly services Cranbourne, Pakenham and Sunbury lines, via the metro tunnel. The State Library Station is open from 7am and 7pm each day until the Big Switch on 1 February 2026, however trains do not run at all times. See Victoria's Big Build for more information.
