First edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

A children’s classic, this first English edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was published in London in December 1865 (dated 1866).

Complementing Lewis Carroll’s whimsical prose are 42 black-and-white wood engravings by renowned Punch artist John Tenniel. One of the first and best examples of nonsense literature ever written, this popular story is a work of creative genius that has delighted generations of children and adults alike.

We received a gift of Lewis Carroll’s sequel, Through the Looking Glass, five years ago, and this edition of Alice completes the collection for Victoria.
