Malcolm Turner

Researching the historical, social and artistic background to the centenary of Australian animation. Film essays and documentary.

Australia’s very first animated film was created by artist and prolific newspaper cartoonist Harry Julius, and screened in 1915. Malcolm’s research will help commemorate this centenary in 2015 in the form of a film essay.

Malcolm Turner is the co-founder and director of the Melbourne International Animation Festival, co-director of the London International Animation Festival, and the animation programmer for the New Zealand Film Festival and Sydney Film Festival.
