Business & industry

The Library has extensive collections of business information, both current and historical.

Focusing on Australia, these collections include annual reports, industry directories, databases, yearbooks, compilations of current and historical census data, a wide selection of economic and demographic statistics, and a few archives of company records.

If you're starting up a small business, studying long-term company performance or adding to your family history, the Library's business collections are a great resource.

We provide access to eresources both on-site and from home for registered Victorian State Library users about business practice, strategic management, finance and international trade. Business startups will find the IBISWorld Australia Industry Reports useful, while ProQuest Business (accessed via the ProQuest Central database) offers full-text journal articles, reports and conference papers. You can also access key business databases such as Morningstar DatAnalysis Premium from home.

Two key collections, Annual reports 1950–94 on microfiche and Company announcements 1980–96 on CD-ROM, provide access to official company documents.

The Library's Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) collection complements statistics provided by the ABS online. Also offered online and in print are statistics produced by the International Monetary Fund, the OECD and the United Nations.
