Norman Ikin, Valerie Wittman Ikin at the Caulfield Cup, 1950.
Norman Ikin (1924– 1962) was trained by Wolfgang Sievers, who described him as a ‘highly gifted fashion photographer’. Ikin was part of Melbourne’s close-knit community of commercial photographers. He worked for Athol Shmith, and established his own studio after landing a lucrative contract with Myer. Ikin died tragically in a car accident just as his career was beginning to flourish.
