Activists, nurses, fundraisers – during WWI, women played diverse roles off the battlefield. In a fascinating morning of discussion, academics, writers and historians explore the impact of women in the conflict.
The conference will be chaired by Professor Rae Frances, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Monash University, and co-author of Women and the Great War. Presenters include Professor Melanie Oppenheimer, author of Oceans of love – the story of a WWI nurse, and Her Honour Judge Felicity Hampel, sharing her experience in human rights and the international war crime tribunals. This event will launch the new book Women in war by Alice McConnell.
Presented in partnership with Australian Multicultural Foundation, Monash University, Artek Productions and Selina Productions.
