Join us as we commemorate the 700th anniversary of Italian poet Dante Alighieri.

In this special online showcase we’ll delve into the Library’s collection of items relating to Dante, including two early printed editions of his poem the Divine Comedy and a range of artists’ responses to the work.

Margot Costanzo, presenter at 3MBS, will give an introduction and Dr Paolo Baracchi, Cultural Programs Manager at CO.AS.IT. and Secretary at Dante Alighieri Society Melbourne, will provide a reading from Dante's The divine comedy

If you would like to follow along with the written text during the reading, you can find the poem and Mandelbaum's translation in the texts & translations tab on the Digital Dante website.

  • Cathy Leahy: Senior Curator, Prints and Drawings at the National Gallery of Victoria
  • Samuel Wagan Watson: award-winning Indigenous poet
