Explore the duality of identity at PHOTO 2022.
We’ve partnered with PHOTO 2022 International Festival of Photography to present a new body of work by Melbourne-based artist Anu Kumar on the Library forecourt.
In her work Remnants of ritual, Kumar explores the growing hybrid culture of the Indian/Australian diaspora. As a woman born in India and raised in Australia, she has watched her community navigate a duality of identity, toggling between these two worlds in pursuit of belonging, safety and comfort.
This exhibition was commissioned by Photo Australia for PHOTO 2022 and is supported by State Library Victoria and the Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) Fund, an Australian Government initiative.
