Hear the heavenly voices of Latvian youth choir MASKA at this special pop-up performance in Cowen Gallery.
In celebration of the Latvian centenary of independence, MASKA will bring the music of a Northern European winter to the Australian summer. The choir will perform pieces by Latvian composers such as Ēriks Ešenvalds and Laura Jēkabsone.
MASKA was established in 2000 and has won wide acclaim for its performances at international choral competitions, and for its collaborations with Latvia’s foremost composers and musicians. The choir is enthusiastic in its global promotion of Latvian choral music and the music of its Baltic and Northern European neighbours. MASKA is a creative community that dares to be different, with its own charm and musicality. MASKA’s conductor and artistic director is Jānis Ozols.
