To read or not to read, that is the question.
Reading is a much-loved activity for many Australians. Yet, for some, the choice ‘to read or not to read’ is not a simple one due to barriers ranging from socioeconomic circumstances to limited access to books and technology.
This Library and Information Week, State Library Victoria alongside the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) are shining a light on how libraries actively work to dismantle these barriers, advocating for literacy in all its forms.
Throughout the day, hear from industry experts including Anna Burkey, Andrea Rowe, Anthony McCosker, Ben Bowen, Jane Cowell and Professor Jeannie Paterson.
Program highlights include:
- Explore how human choices, psychology and biases contribute to the spread of misinformation in our latest exhibition, Make Believe: Encounter with Misinformation
- Celebrate the unique place books hold within our lives with our World of Book exhibition
- Hear from industry experts
- Opportunity to network with colleagues
