How to Navigate Collaborations

This in-person panel talk, presented by StartSpace powered by State Library Victoria and Melbourne Fringe, is about exploring the joy of collaborations in the creative sector and how to avoid potential pitfalls when working with others.

The panel will share their experiences of working alongside peers in the arts and activism space, and discuss how to begin a collaboration, what works, what doesn't and how to leave without slamming the door.

The panel features:

• Eliki Reade (they/them), Producer and Artist
• Lana Nguyen (she/her), Independent Producer
• Angharad Wynne-Jones (she/her), Head of Audience Engagement at State Library Victoria.

The audience will be given an opportunity to ask questions during the event.

You could plan to arrive at the Library 30 or so minutes before the event and see the exhibition before the workshop. Please note the Library and exhibition will be closed at 6.00pm so you will be unable to visit it straight after the workshop.

About Eliki Reade

Eliki Reade is an interdependent producer and artist of kailoma-Fijian (Fijian/European) heritage with 5 years experience in creative production both independently and institutionally, particularly focused in the Community Art and Cultural Development (CACD) sector. Eliki works with many forms of storytelling and the ways it is creatively embodied, engaging with work that centres the practice, creating critical connection.

About Lana Nguyen

Lana Nguyen primarily works as an independent producer, curator and collaborator on works deeply engaged with the politics of place. She has worked across the sector at organisations such as Footscray Community Arts Centre, West Space, Liquid Architecture and Bus Projects, as well as on independent projects for festivals such as RISING, NEIGHBOURHOOD and MoreArt Public Art Festival.

Currently, she is working on A Climate For Art, a sector-wide divestment campaign encouraging climate action, and is a fellow with Parallel Structures, looking at curatorial-led structural change in a regional museum context.

About Angharad Wynne-Jones

Angharad Wynne-Jones is Cymry (Welsh) Australian and lives on the unceded lands of the Kulin Nation in Narrm (Melbourne). She is Head of Audience Engagement at the State Library Victoria, leading a team of producers, programmers, designers and curators to create large scale exhibitions, public programs and events, small business entrepreneurship and education programs that support community knowledge building and engagement with the Library’s collections.

Previously she was Head of Creative Engagement at Arts Centre Melbourne, Artistic Director at Arts House, City of Melbourne, and Founder Director of TippingPoint Australia. She co-designed NIDA’s MFA Cultural Leadership course and is a member of the Centre for Reworlding collective, Board member of All The Queens Men and Chair of Aphids.
