This conversation is part three of The Garret’s six-part series of interviews recorded live at the Library, celebrating great writing across all forms and genres.

Jay and Amie, in conversation with host Astrid Edwards, will explain the intricacies of their co-writing process. This will be their first public full length answer to that question

About the authors

Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff are internationally bestselling sci-fi and fantasy writers. They are co-authors of The Illuminae Files trilogy, a trilogy in development for film with Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment. Amie and Jay are currently writing their second trilogy, The Aurora Cycle, a new science fiction epic. Amie has also published The Starbound Trilogy (with Megan Spooner) and in 2018 released Ice Wolves, the first in her solo series. Jay Kristoff is the author of LIFEL1K3, The Nevernight Chronicles and The Lotus War trilogy.

Astrid Edwards is the host and co-founder of The Garret. Astrid teaches professional writing at RMIT University and serves as Vice Chair of the Committee of Management at Writers Victoria. She is also Director of Strategy at Bad Producer Productions, a bespoke podcast company, and comedy podcast Childproof. She is a National Advocate for MS Australia and blogs about chronic illness under the pseudonym LadywithMS
