From the 1920s to the 1980s, banned books like The catcher in the rye by JD Salinger were deemed so dangerous they needed to be secured behind a grille in the annulus of the La Trobe Reading Room for the safety of the public. Join Principal Librarian Des Cowley and Dr Patrick Spedding to unlock the history of this private case collection.
