Meet husband and wife literary collaborators Charmian Clift and George Johnston, who in 1948 jointly won Australia’s then-richest literary prize.

Clift and Johnston’s use of fictionalised alter egos in their work caused public fascination and private angst. Hear about the couple’s conflicts over gender roles and expectations and how Clift’s work preceded the debates that gave rise to second-wave feminism in the 1970s.
