Kids can join in on the fun of the Blak & Bright First Nations Literary Festival with a special storytime from singer-songwriter Shauntai Sheree Abdul-Rahman.

This session will take place in the interactive Pauline Gandel Children's Quarter. Shauntai will read a collection of children’s books that will delight and entertain the little ones.

About Shauntai Sherree Abdul-Rahman

Multi-faceted vocalist and composer Shauntai Sherree Abdul-Rahman effortlessly inhabits the worlds of opera, inspirational soul and gospel, classical composition, and theatre making. Shauntai has appeared as a soloist for Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Victorian Opera, Sydney Opera House, Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Short Black Opera, and Arts Centre Melbourne.

She was the featured composer at the 2019 Port Fairy Spring Music Festival premiering her critically acclaimed song cycles drawing on Wiradjuri heritage and First Nations languages. 

Shauntai is currently in the process of writing her first Australian Musical which is supported by Creative Victoria.

 

About Blak & Bight First Nations Literary Festival

Blak & Bright First Nations Literary Festival is based in Naarm (Melbourne). Established in 2016, the four-day showcase celebrates the diverse expressions of First Nations writers and covers all genres from oral stories to epic novels and plays to poetry.
