Do you have big dreams of writing a novel, penning a poem or publishing your own zine?

Or do you have something to say, but you're not quite sure how to get it out into the world?

This is your chance to meet and learn from some of Australia's most exciting and inspiring storytellers in a free school holiday writing program for 12- to 15-year-olds.

Over three days (Monday 24 September, Wednesday 26 September and Thursday 27 September), you'll explore the craft of storytelling, building your creative skills and finding out how to turn your passion into a career.

Guest Speakers

Elizabeth Flux
Elizabeth Flux is a freelance writer and editor for Melbourne City of Literature’s ‘Reading Victoria’ series. In 2017 she was the recipient of a Wheeler Centre Hot Desk Fellowship, was a judge for the Scribe Prize, winner of the inaugural Feminartsy Fiction Prize, and her short story ‘One’s Company’ was selected for Best Australian Stories 2017.

Ellie Marney
Ellie Marney is a teacher and YA author of the Every series (Every Breath, Every Word, Every Move), a popular crime trilogy for Young Adults. Ellie has helped spearhead a collaborative group of literary sector professionals under the banner ‘#LoveOzYA’ to advocate for and promote Australian YA literature. She is an Ambassador for the Stella Prize Schools Program, and is a regular speaker at schools, events and festivals.

Amal Ibrahim
Amal Ibrahim is a Somali poet based in Melbourne. Her work explores the way identities intimately intersect, the complexity and artistry of black womanhood and the power of poetry as an act of political defiance. Amal is featured at various poetry events, including the End Of Line Festival, Girls on Key, Melbourne Fringe Festival and 2017 Digital Writers Festival.

Story Camp is presented by the Centre for Youth Literature at State Library Victoria and Express Media, supported by the Crown Resorts Foundation and Packer Family Foundation.
