State Library Victoria re-opening update

We look forward to partially re-opening the Library on 15 June, ahead of our official opening on 27 June in line with the Victorian Government’s move to ease coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions on the advice of the Chief Health Officer.

From 15 June we will open a limited number of spaces for those seeking access to desks, free wifi, assistive technology and information services, including:

  • Swanston Street Welcome Zone
  • Hansen Hall
  • ground floor information centre
  • Cowen Gallery.

From 27 June we will open more spaces, including:

  • the domed La Trobe Reading Room
  • the Heritage Collection Reading Room
  • The Ian Potter Queen’s Hall.

We will initially open with reduced hours of 10am to 6pm daily. We will look to extend opening hours over the coming weeks, depending on community response and the up-to-date directions from Victoria’s Chief Health Officer.
