Maggie Diaz (born 1925) was already an established photographer when she arrived in Melbourne in 1961 ‘with five dollars American’. She produced work for the Melbourne City Council, Brotherhood of St Laurence and 3AW. Like many of her generation, Maggie was influenced by The Family of Man exhibition, curated by Edward Steichen at New York’s Museum of Modern Art in 1955.
