Dreaming up designs for underground worlds are all in a day’s work for Mat Larkin, author of popular children’s book The Orchard Underground.

Join us for a lively series of bite-sized videos in which Mat introduces us to his weird and wild characters, teaches us how to generate creative ideas, and prompts us to explore that all-important question: what do penguins want?

Mat encourages children to let their ideas flow with rich literacy activities featured at the end of each video. Designed to activate and inspire young writers, this series is perfect for remote learning and classrooms.

Story Talks is suitable for children aged eight to twelve and features Auslan interpretation.

The Story Talks series is supported by Gandel Philanthropy.

Pauline Gandel Children’s Quarter, also supported by Gandel Philanthropy, is a purpose-built space for children and families to read, learn and play, with an associated program of activities.
