This workshop for secondary school teachers and librarians explores how the Research Skill Development (RSD) framework, developed by John Willison, University of Adelaide, can be applied across the curriculum to make the development of research skills an explicit element of teaching and learning.
The RSD framework is a conceptual pedagogical tool that describes research skills and their development within a learning continuum. Participants in this workshop will explore the RSD framework through interactive group workshop activities and discovery learning approaches.
Participants will:
- explore research skills and processes through discovery-based learning opportunities
- identify the relationship between research skills development and student autonomy
- discover strategies to explicitly teach research techniques in the classroom, using the RSD framework as a guide.
Bursary program
Limited bursaries to help cover the cost of a replacement teacher are available for participants currently teaching in a Victorian school with an Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage (ICSEA) ranking of 1000 or below ($250 per participant, maximum of two per school).
