Temporary closure

During these extraordinary times, everyone here at the Library is thinking of our community and sharing your concern about the rapidly changing COVID-19 situation.

On advice from government, we’ve made the difficult decision to close all public spaces from 16 March until further notice, and cancel or postpone upcoming Library programs until at least 13 April 2020.

This does not affect events by Showtime Event Group.

On 19 March 2020, we also temporarily closed our staff workspaces, as a precautionary measure, after receiving advice of two cases of COVID-19 confirmed in visitors who recently attended a conference hosted at the Library from 1–4 March 2020. Following advice from health authorities, as a precaution, we’re undertaking extensive cleaning of the Library site before reopening to staff. Some of our online Library services may be disrupted during this time.

We’re sad to close our doors but feel this is the best preventative measure to support the health and wellbeing of our visitors, staff and volunteers, as well as the broader community.

In the meantime, you can continue to access Library collections online, along with thousands of free ebooks, journals and other databases using your Library membership number. If you don’t have a Library membership, you can sign up online.

Information about plans to reopen or any other changes that arise will be published on our website, in our e-newsletters and on our social media channels.

For up-to-date health information, please visit the Department of Health and Human Service’s COVID-19 information hub.

Thank you for your understanding. We wish you all the best during this challenging time and look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
