Teen programs

We run friendly events and digital programs to connect young adults with books, stories, writing – and each other.

Inky Awards

The Inky Awards are Australia's only book awards where young adults are in charge of selecting, reading and judging the books. Our year-long Inkys program includes:

  • a program to mentor teen judges
  • an array of longlisted books, selected by teens and announced in March
  • a shortlist of 10 Australian and international books, selected by teens and announced in July
  • a public vote by teen readers – voting runs from July to August
  • the Inky Awards gold (Australian) and silver (international) winners – announced in September.

Find out all about the Inkys, including past winners, shortlisted titles and how to get involved.

Inside a Dog

'Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside a dog, it's too dark to read.'
– Groucho Marx

Visit our popular and fun Inside a Dog website – a place for bookish teens.

Inside a Dog offers a safe space for teenagers to talk together about books and stories, writing and culture. It's a space where you can create a blog, share book reviews or creative writing and add your voice to the bookish conversation in a way that feels right to you.

What are you waiting for? Come on in and explore Inside a Dog.
