The Photography Fellowship offered a unique opportunity for an artist to conduct innovative research in response to State Library Victoria's photography collection, and to present the outcome at PHOTO 2020 International Festival of Photography.
The State Library's photography collection features historic and contemporary photography including work by renowned Australian photographers including Wolfgang Sievers, Mark Strizic, Maggie Diaz, Rennie Ellis, Polixeni Papapetrou and Sue Ford.
The Photography Fellowship was presented in 2019 in association with PHOTO 2020.
The fellowship carried a grant of $15,000.
About PHOTO 2020
PHOTO 2020 is a major new international festival of photography taking place in Melbourne and regional Victoria from 23 April to 10 May 2020.
The festival's exhibitions, artist commissions, workshops, talks and events at cultural institutions, museums and galleries will encourage the public to engage with and think about photography and visual culture in new and inspiring ways.
We are pausing our Fellowships program in 2020 to look at how we can create more value for participants and the Victorian community, and greater alignment to the Library’s strategy.
We look forward to announcing details of a redesigned Fellowships program that will return in 2021.
