About Kiwi boot polish

Founded in Melbourne by William Ramsay, Kiwi boot polish has ensured shoes stay shiny since 1906. The forerunner of Australian success stories like Neighbours, ugg boots and Tim Tams, Kiwi was the first local brand to achieve worldwide success.

Historic newspapers trace the company's upward trajectory, which was boosted when imperial and American armies used Kiwi to polish their boots during WWI. Factories opened across the world and the ownership baton was passed to successive generations of Ramsays until the 1980s. And though it's no longer Australian owned, Kiwi remains the world's most popular shoe polish.
