About Christmas recipes
In the 1920s and '30s, Victorian family Christmas celebrations were anchored in the British culinary tradition. Recipes for Yuletide delicacies were published in contemporary newspapers as the festive season approached, and housewives were encouraged to stock their larders well in advance.
How to achieve the perfect fondant icing and other nuggets of valuable advice can be found in our digitised Victorian historical newspapers, along with tried-and-tested recipes for puddings, cakes and pies.
