Etchings and artist's book: Following the secret hiding spots – Exploring childhood memories and imagination
Kyoko's project will explore imagination and memories from her childhood in Japan, and will result in a series of etchings and a limited edition artist’s book.
The etchings will juxtapose Australian landscapes with the artist's own characters, creating a reference point for cross-cultural investigation between Australian and Japanese cultures.
Kyoko will research the Australian landscape, flora and fauna to make a series of study drawings in preparation for the final prints.
Kyoko Imazu holds a Bachelor of Fine Art in Printmaking, a Diploma of Visual Arts, and a Certificate in Foundation Studies Art in Design and Communication, all from RMIT. She was born in Japan and has lived in Australia since 2002.
Kyoko has exhibited her work throughout the Asia-Pacific region and her work is held in collections at RMIT, Sydney College of Arts, State Library of Queensland and the National Gallery of Australia, among others.
