Come and celebrate one of Melbourne’s favourite events, the Melbourne Writers Festival (MWF), here at State Library Victoria – the heart of the Festival’s new literary precinct. From 30 August to 8 September, MWF will bring together some of the world’s leading authors, artists, journalists, poets, playwrights and songwriters to explore the myriad ways words move and inspire us.

Through the lens of this year’s theme, When We Talk About Love, artists will tell stories of resilience, of heartbreak and letting go of family, bodies and home, bringing the City of Literature to life through vibrant talks, oration, music, immersive art and performance.

International guests include beloved crime writer Val McDermid, Canadian author Patrick DeWitt, New York Times essayist Sloane Crosley, academic and writer Eve L Ewing, Mexican novelist Emiliano Monge and historian Deborah Lipstadt, alongside local icons including Tina Arena, Tony Birch, Bruce Pascoe, Deborah Cheetam, Archie Roach and Sophie Cunningham.

There are more than 100 events at the Library, as well as surrounding venues. Browse the full program and book online at mwf.com.au/program
