In 2017 the Library acquired View of the north shore, Port of Melbourne (1862) by Captain Wilbraham Frederick Evelyn (WFE) Liardet, a watercolour depicting a bustling regatta in early Melbourne. Like any centenarian, the painting was showing signs of a life well lived, and close examination by our paper conservators revealed chemical, biological and mechanical damage.

Join Marika Kocsis, Senior Conservator of Paper, to learn about the conservation treatments that have breathed new life into this rare and vibrant painting, now on display in the Changing face of Victoria exhibition.
