Friends lounge

The Friends lounge is a relaxed retreat for the use of Friends of the State Library of Victoria. Open daily during Library hours, it's the perfect place to catch up on some quiet reading or take a break from other Library activities.

The lounge, located off the La Trobe Reading Room on level 3, has comfortable seating, newspapers, two computers with internet access, power points for your laptop and wireless internet access. There is also a small kitchenette where you can make a cup of tea or coffee.

A highlight of the room is the highly decorative Coppin clock, which previously stood in Queen's Hall. The clock stands just under three metres high.

Accessing the lounge

To enter the lounge, Friends of the Library need a temporary security card, obtained by showing a current membership card to security staff in the Library foyer.

The card provides access on the day of issue and should be returned to the security guard when you leave the Library.

Guests

Friends of the Library may bring two guests with them per visit. Children should not be left unattended in the lounge.
