How to Shop
Finding, ordering and paying for your purchases is simple.
Browse or Search
General Merchandise
To browse items in our Online Shop, select from one of the following categories: Books, Policies & Reports, Exhibition Catalogues, General Merchandise and La Trobe Journal.
To search for an item, enter a keyword. Searches can be conducted using both upper and lower-case keyword; however, correct spelling is required for a successful search. The search tool looks for words in the title, author and date details of an item.
Schools Periodical Service
To browse or search the items available through the Schools Periodical Service, you must be a registered user. After logging in, you can simply click on 'search' to display all article summaries on the database. Users can also choose to do either a simple or advanced search on the database. The Advanced Search option allows users to search by title, author (of the VCE text or journal articles) and by VCE subject area.
Selecting Items
As you find items you want to order, you can add them to 'Your Basket' by clicking on the shopping trolley icon:

You can add further items as you find them. You may view the contents of your basket at any time and amend your order by removing items or changing the quantities of any item in your basket. By clicking the 'Update' button, you can see the new total price of your order.
At this point, you can continue shopping or complete your order. Continuing from this page will not process the transaction and you may still cancel your order on the next page.
Reviewing Your Order
The Your Orders page summarises your order. The Delivery and Handling price added to your order is calculated from your delivery address. Please review all your order details and take note of the order number for future reference.
When you want to proceed with the order, click Place Order. Users of the Schools Periodical Service must agree to the Terms and Conditions of Use before completing their order.
When you are ready to pay for your order, click on Proceed to payment. You will be automatically directed from the State Library of Victoria Online Shop to the ANZ eGate site where you can submit your credit card details. Purchases cannot be cancelled once the credit card transaction has been completed at the ANZ eGate site.
Receipt Details
The Receipt Details page confirms that the purchase transaction has been processed. You are advised to print this page and retain for your records.
Confirmation Email
You will receive a confirmation email after you place an order and another email when the order has been despatched.
Registering as a User
When you complete your order and delivery information, the Online Shop automatically registers you a user and emails you a username and password.
Your Orders
Once your order is complete, the details can be found on the Your Orders page. This page also allows you to view previous orders and print Tax Invoices/Receipts. Your Orders also records any orders that you've made but are yet to be paid for.
If you do not wish to pay online, please print the Your Orders page and attach your cheque/money order.
Your Details
This page shows your contact details as entered by you. You can alter any details you wish, and then click Update.
Favourites
Favourites allow you to manage your selections before you decide which items to order. You can organise your selections into folders and give each a name.
Favourites are automatically saved so you can use them next time you log in. When you are satisfied with your selections you can add the items you want to order to Your Basket. You can email favourites to other people.
Logging in as a previous purchaser
When you first make a purchase you will be emailed a password to access this area. If you forget your details please use the Password reminder.
Your order information will be available online for up to two years, after which a service charge will apply to obtain a copy of your Tax Invoices/Receipts. Please contact libraryshop@slv.vic.gov.au for details.
