Poems for young ‘uns at the State Library
Phew. We’re just back from delivering the launch of the Almeida Children’s Poetry Collection for the Australian Poetry Centre. The selection of the books and audio can be sampled at Experimedia at the State Library of Victoria.
Rosemary McKenzie launched the collection, generously donated by Almeida Russell. The larger part of the collection will be housed at the APC, which takes up its new digs at the Centre for Books, Writing and Ideas. The CBWI is expected to open in November, with programming to commence from February 2010.
Anyway, around 100 young people enjoyed poetry, cupcakes, workshops and tours of the library, organised by the Centre for Youth Literature and SLV’s Schools team. Much wordsmithing fun was had by all.
